Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 2, 2026
Schooled In ("we," "us") makes the Schooled In study app and the website schooledinapp.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email schooledinapp@gmail.com.
The short version
- You don't need an account to study. We don't ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Your progress is saved on your own device, not on our servers.
- We don't sell your information.
- The iPhone and Android apps offer optional video ads: you choose to watch one to earn an extra play. The website has no ads, and teens never see ads.
- Before we add features that change any of this, we'll update this policy.
What the app keeps on your device
- Study progress: XP, streaks, levels, scores, your review schedule, cards you save, and your settings.
- Your age group: whether you're 13 to 17 or 18 and older. The app uses it to turn on teen settings.
- Test dates you add for the countdown and study plan.
- A random ID made on your device so features like friend codes can work. It isn't tied to your name.
This information stays in the app's storage on your phone, or in your browser if you study on the website. Deleting the app, or clearing your browser's site data for schooledinapp.com, erases it.
What we receive
- Emails you send us, including problem reports you email to schooledinapp@gmail.com. We use them to answer you and fix the app.
- Tips. Tips are processed by Stripe, which collects your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address, the amount and the date. We never see your full card number. We use this only for our records and to thank you.
- App store statistics. Apple and Google share totals like downloads, countries and app versions with app makers. They don't share your name with us.
Optional ads in the phone apps
- The iPhone and Android apps include optional rewarded video ads from Google AdMob. An ad plays only when you tap Watch a short ad, and finishing one adds a play.
- To show, limit and measure ads, Google may collect information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device type and how you interact with the ad. Google's privacy policy and its page on how Google uses information from apps that use its services apply.
- On iPhone, the app asks whether it may track you across other companies' apps (App Tracking Transparency). If you say no, ads still play, but they aren't personalized.
- Where the law requires it, for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom and some US states, Google's consent form appears first so you can choose how your information is used for ads.
- We don't receive your advertising identifier or your personal information from Google. We see totals, such as how many ads were watched.
- If you tell the app you're 13 to 17, it shows no ads of any kind.
Study videos
Study videos play from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode, in the app and on the website. YouTube's privacy policy applies when you play one. The shards you earn for watching are counted on your device.
Read aloud, reminders and the widget
Read aloud uses your device's built-in voices. Daily reminders are scheduled on your phone. The home-screen widget reads today's fun fact and your streak from your phone. None of these send anything to us.
The website
- schooledinapp.com doesn't show ads or use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser downloads them.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to run and protect the site.
- Links to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Stripe take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Features we may add later
We plan to add features that work over the internet, such as optional sign-in to back up your progress, online leaderboards, friends and duels, AI study tools and Premium memberships. Before any of these go live, we'll update this policy to explain exactly what each one collects and change the effective date above. Where the law or the app stores require it, we'll ask for your permission first.
Children
Schooled In is for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're 13 to 17 and tell the app so, it turns on teen settings: no ads of any kind and no usage analytics. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Your choices
- Erase your progress any time in the app: Settings > Reset progress. You can also delete the app or clear your browser's site data.
- Ask us to see, correct or delete anything you've sent us by emailing schooledinapp@gmail.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have more rights under local law. Email us and we'll help you use them.
Security
We keep what we receive to a minimum and rely on established services (Stripe, Apple, Google) for payments, ads and email. No method is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date. We'll also mention big changes in the app.
